Fire safety training in Murcia and Alicante

The evacuation plan is on the wall. The fire extinguishers have been checked. The alarms are working. And yet, when an emergency struck, no one knew what to do. This is the scenario we see most often in poorly prepared drills: the equipment is ready, but the people aren’t.

And the reason is simple: you don’t learn how to use a fire extinguisher or operate a fire hose reel by reading a sign. You learn by doing. That’s why at Normatex we provide fire safety training with live fire in Murcia and Alicante. No digital simulations or PowerPoint presentations in a dark room. Real fire, a real extinguisher, a real hose. So when the time comes—if it does—the first time someone pulls the trigger won’t be then.

Fire safety training in Murcia

We deliver practical courses for businesses at our facilities in Alcantarilla or directly at the customer’s premises anywhere in the Region of Murcia. Our live-fire training area is designed for this: safety equipment, a controlled-fuel fire tray and a fire hose reel connected to a water supply.

Fire safety training in Alicante

The same service throughout the province: we bring our training team to the client’s premises—factories in Elche, coastal hotels, large residential communities in Torrevieja or Orihuela Costa—or welcome the group at our headquarters.

Practical fire extinguisher handling course

It’s our most popular course, and for good reason: the fire extinguisher is the first piece of equipment anyone can reach during an incipient fire. But it’s only useful if you know how to use it.

Theory session (brief and to the point)

One hour. It’s not the important part, but it’s necessary to make sense of the practical session that follows:

  • Fire classes (A, B, C, F) and why each requires a different extinguishing agent.
  • Types of fire extinguishers and what each one is used for.
  • When to tackle a fire and when to evacuate. Each person has to make this decision in seconds, and getting it wrong costs lives. We cover it.
  • Positioning: never stand with your back to the exit. Use the fire extinguisher with the exit behind you.
  • The PASS technique: Pull, Aim at the base, Squeeze, Sweep. Simple mechanics that need to become second nature.

Practical training with live fire

Two hours. The important part. Each participant:

  • Use a fire extinguisher on a controlled real fire in a fuel tray.
  • Practise the PASS technique, correcting mistakes in real time with the instructor.
  • Builds confidence in operating the equipment and personal safety.
  • Work together during team exercises: one person tackles the fire, another raises the alarm, and another evacuates.

They leave confident that, if the time comes, they won’t freeze.

Live-fire training

Live fire is non-negotiable in our training. It’s the only way for participants to experience the heat, noise and tension of the situation—in a completely controlled and safe environment—and leave feeling, “I’ve done this before.”

Training is carried out using:

  • Controlled-fuel trays that allow the fire size to be varied.
  • Real fire extinguishers using real extinguishing agent (not training agent).
  • Personal protective equipment for instructors and continuous supervision.
  • Area cordoned off with all safety measures in place.

No one takes part in practical training without the theory first. And no exercise begins without a safety briefing.

Fire hose reel and hose practice

A fire hose reel (BIE) is powerful but requires practice. You need to open the valve with the hose properly positioned. You need to control the nozzle with both hands. Be ready for the initial “kick” of the pressurised water, which can surprise anyone who hasn’t experienced it before. And with a 45 mm BIE with a lay-flat hose, unroll it fully beforehand—otherwise, the pressure will jam it.

During the fire hose reel exercises, each participant:

  • Open a real fire hose reel.
  • Deploy the hose correctly.
  • Handle the hose nozzle on a controlled fire.
  • Coordinate with a second participant if using a 45 mm BIE.

After the training, your business or community’s emergency response team will know how to open a fire hose reel in under 30 seconds, without any nasty surprises. That’s the difference.

Training for businesses and employees

Spain’s Occupational Risk Prevention Act 31/1995 requires companies to train their employees in emergency response and evacuation. A record of that training is proof in the event of a labour inspection.

Who the training is for

  • Emergency response teams appointed by the company.
  • Workers in high-risk areas (kitchens, warehouses, industrial units).
  • Staff at large residential communities (concierges, maintenance staff).
  • Any employee the company considers key to an evacuation.

Documentation we provide

  • Individual certificate of attendance for each participant.
  • Signed training record for the company’s files.

In-house training centre in Alcantarilla

We have our own training facilities at our headquarters in the Oeste Industrial Park in Alcantarilla, within Normatex’s premises of over 1,000 m². They include:

  • Outdoor live-fire training area.
  • Fire hose reel equipment connected to a water supply for training.
  • Space for the introductory theory session, with audiovisual materials and teaching resources.
  • Changing rooms and break area.

If your business or community would rather come to our premises, we’ll be happy to welcome you. If you’d prefer us to come to you, we can do that too: our team is used to travelling to factories, hotels, industrial units and community courtyards with all the equipment the training requires.

Duration, format and certification

- Duration: approximately 3 hours (1 hour of theory + 2 hours of practical exercises).

- Format: in person, groups of up to 20 participants.

- Location: Normatex headquarters in Alcantarilla or the client’s premises in Murcia or Alicante.

- Documentation: certificate for each participant + training record for the business.

For large groups (more than 20), we organise several sessions in a row. For businesses with multiple sites, we plan an annual rotating training schedule.

Training eligible for FUNDAE subsidies

Training costs may be eligible for funding through the State Foundation for Employment Training (FUNDAE) for companies with employees registered under the general Social Security scheme.

In practice, this means that some—or all—of the cost is recovered through a discount on your Social Security contributions for the month after the course. Get in touch with no obligation to find out whether your company is eligible. We’ll explain how to claim it.
